I chose television to keep myself busy as an actor: Avinash Divakar

Actor Avinash Divakar talks about his new journey on the small screen, learnings from television, and how the Kannada film industry can overcome tough times

Mrs. Prabha Tiwari is a testament to the idea that age is just a number when it comes to achieving personal goals. At 61 (now 64), she took control of her life and embarked on a weight loss transformation journey. “At age 60, I reached a turning point. A slip in the bathroom left me with knee pain that my doctor told me would be permanent. Due to inactivity, I started gaining weight, leading to thyroid and blood sugar issues. My daughter, Manisha, was on her own fitness journey with FITTR, and her incredible transformation made me realize there was hope for me too,” she explained.

With Manisha's encouragement, who had completed her diploma in nutrition and fitness from INFS, Prabha began her journey. Initially starting with small exercises at home using a few dumbbells, those early efforts helped build her strength. Soon after, she joined a gym and committed to a dedicated workout routine. When she started, she weighed 73.4 kg, and now she weighs 53 kg. “By 62, I achieved something I never thought possible—I won the state powerlifting gold medal in Gujarat,” Prabha shared.

“Now, I confidently train at the gym and live a pain-free life. This new lifestyle has boosted my confidence to the point where I learned to drive a car and swim. FITTR and Manisha changed my life in ways I never imagined, and I will always be grateful to them,” she added.

Inspiration and Motivation

Prabha found inspiration in her daughter, who demonstrated the power of fitness through her own transformation. “My daughter Manisha was my biggest inspiration. With her expertise and support, I began weight training and adopting balanced nutrition, slowly noticing changes in my body and mindset,” she said.

Overcoming Challenges

“Accepting the concept of weight training was difficult for me at first. Balancing family responsibilities and staying consistent wasn’t easy, and resisting cravings was a challenge. However, seeing real results helped me push through these obstacles,” she reflected.

Staying Motivated

For Prabha, this journey was about discovering a stronger version of herself. “Every small gain in strength, every reduction in pain, and each step toward better health motivated me. Manisha’s unwavering support kept me focused on consistency rather than fleeting motivation,” she noted.

Diet and Exercise Regimen

With the help of her coach at FITTR and her daughter, Prabha followed a personalized diet tailored to her needs. “I maintained a balanced, protein-rich diet along with proper hydration, sleep, and six days of strength training each week, guided by my coach and Manisha,” she shared.

Dealing with Setbacks

“Thankfully, I never looked back once I began. My daughter was always there, supporting me through any doubts I had,” she said.

Advice for Others

Prabha believes that staying healthy is a responsibility, especially for those who love their families. “Fitness isn’t just a choice; it’s a necessity. God gave us life to live—not just to survive,” she emphasized.

Life After Weight Loss

“This journey was more than just losing weight; it was about self-worth and personal growth. I no longer need medication for my thyroid or blood sugar, my knee pain is gone, and I can wear clothes I once only dreamed of. My transformation inspires others, and that recognition is my greatest reward,” Prabha concluded.

Her story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to make a change and achieve your goals.
